Barbie Mania: The Girl with the Best Intentions

In the post-whirlwind of Barbie mania, I once again remember I’ve managed to work on an entire campaign and haven’t written a single thing about it. I’ve got a reel to be made, a blog to be written - quite frankly I don’t think I even did a story about it at the time. I’m still not at a point where writing or documenting is the first thing on my mind - as a producer, I'm wrapped up in planning, shotlists and then editing timelines. By the time I come to think about even saying anything it’s usually way past the point of interest.

Which is why you find me on a cold November evening, writing about a campaign we were briefed nearly a year ago, that we shot in May and launched in July. As per my title, I’m the girl with the best intentions. My execution however is still somewhat lacking.

The Barbie x Tangle Teezer campaign has been a dream project, and it's no secret that the team at TT have spent the last year pouring our hearts and souls into bringing this collaboration to life. As a kid of the 80s and 90s, Barbie has always been more than just a doll; she's an icon, a symbol of imagination, creativity, and endless possibilities. Collaborating with ‘her’ was a literal dream come true, and it's been a privilege to be able to bring a little piece of her world into mine.

Full confession, when I first heard about the collab I flipped from overwhelming excitement to panic on a regular basis. So, stay tuned for a series (who am I kidding, it’s probably going to be two if I’m lucky) posts dedicated to all things BarbiexTangleTeezer. From design concepts to photoshoots, and everything in between.
